Bharti, Tata Communications: India Equity Preview (Correct)

Nov. 25 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies may have unusual price changes in India trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are from the last close, unless stated otherwise.

The Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensitive Index, or Sensex, fell 49.10, or 0.3 percent, to 17,131.08. The S&P CNX Nifty Index on the National Stock Exchange dipped 0.3 percent to 5,090.55. The BSE 200 Index slipped 0.2 percent to 2,125.66.

Overseas funds sold a net 680 million rupees ($15 million) of Indian stocks on Nov. 23, the Securities and Exchange Board of India said on its Web site. The funds have bought $15.3 billion of stocks since Jan. 1 after withdrawing a record 530 billion rupees in 2008.

Aksh Optifibre Ltd. (AKOP IN): The Indian optical-fiber maker is considering raising funds in foreign currency convertible debentures or other convertible securities. Aksh fell 4.6 percent to 20.65 rupees.

Bharat Petroleum Corp. (BPCL IN) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. (HPCL IN): India’s state-owned oil refiners may lose 450 billion rupees in revenue for the year to March after selling fuels below cost, Oil Secretary R.S. Pandey said in New Delhi yesterday. The estimate is based on current crude oil prices, he said. Bharat Petroleum gained 2.4 percent to 540 rupees, and Hindustan Petroleum fell 0.2 percent to 348 rupees.

Bharti Airtel Ltd. (BHARTI IN): India’s biggest mobile- phone operator was downgraded to “underweight” from “neutral” at HSBC Holdings Plc. The stock rose 2.6 percent to 282.5 rupees.

Mphasis Ltd. (MPHL IN): The Indian unit of Electronic Data Systems LLC., has proposed a final dividend of 3.5 rupees a share compared with 2 rupees a year earlier, the company said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Mphasis gained 0.9 percent to 698.7 rupees.

Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (SCS IN): Indian investigators said they have identified 1,065 properties and tracts of land acquired by the former chairman of Satyam Computer Services Ltd. and nine others with money siphoned from the company. Satyam fell 2 percent to 101.6 rupees.

Tata Communications Ltd. (TCOM IN): The telecommunications services provider plans to construct a new cable system in the Middle East along with other phone operators in the region, the company said in a statement to the PRNewswire. Tata gained 4.4 percent to 375.7 rupees.
